o j kirby Posted 3 July , 2020 Share Posted 3 July , 2020 Hello, A good friend of mine is researching the 11th Royal Scots. Can anyone tell me if the WW1 War Diaries for this battalion are available online? Many thanks. Owain.
rolt968 Posted 3 July , 2020 Share Posted 3 July , 2020 This is probably what you are looking for: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7352549 I think they are still free to download. There is also a small file covering a few months in 1919. RM
Ron Clifton Posted 3 July , 2020 Share Posted 3 July , 2020 Yes, on www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and they should also be available on Ancestry. WO 95/1773 11 Battalion The Royal Scots 1915 May - 1919 Mar. There are other diaries in the same box so you may need to add a suffix /1, /2 etc. Ron

Hello Owain, To get the WD for free (at the moment), you first have to create an account, or logon to your existing account, at the TNA. Otherwise you'll be prompted for the standard fee. Kindest Regards, Tom.

I should have added that the TNA 'Discovery' search box is good if you enter "WO 95 11 Scots Guards", otherwise you'll end up with eye-strain going through the list provided. Using 'WO 95 nn xxxxx' will give you a much closer target list. Tom.
