Remembered Today:

The 1914 BEF Collection of threads

I offer here a list of thread titles that I have gleaned from the forum on the Old Contemptibles. The subjects contain much in the way of fact, as opposed to anecdote or received wisdom.

The list is not exhaustive but may be useful, especially as a go-to list for new readers.

John Kipling added at foot.

In my opinion these threads show the Forum at its investigative best. No less a scion of military history, the late great Charles Messenger, wrote:

Finally, you are replacing supposition with some hard fact.

May I suggest  that the list could be compiled as

a series of hyperlinks

as an example

it certainly could be if somebody had the ability and the motivation.

As it is, the list is offered as a rough and ready aid by one without much skill but lots of enthusiasm. I also have almost all of the material archived, so am low on motivation!

A worthwhile exercise.
These threads are gold, i find myself rereading some of them from time to time.

Do you mean this one?

Link to a thread started by Mike, also containing some interesting content from the late Martin Gillott which touched on the BEF
