Private NEWTON, THOMAS

Service Number 5487

Died 05/09/1916

Aged 41

1st/5th Bn.
West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own)

Husband of C. Newton, of 84, Wards Yard, Thornhill Edge, nr. Dewsbury, Yorks.

Buried at DOULLENS COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION NO.1

Cemetery/memorial reference: III. E. 14.

His CWGC Service Number is 5487 but his pension card and soldier's effects  show it as 22598.

SDGW shows 5487 but also records he was previously in the KOYLI, number 20582

He has two MIC Cards, one with the name Thos. Newton and refers to the fact that his widow applied for the 1914-15 Star but I cannot confirm whether the award was granted under any of the three service numbers.

Any help gratefully received

Thank you
