Hello everyone,

I back looking for expertise once more. Could anyone tell me how a fuze for an 18 pounder shrapnel shell actually worked? In particular how many settings did it have? And, were these incremental to range? Is so how did this work. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

This site is well worth a look.  There is a description given of the workings of the No.80 + No.85 fuses about halfway down the page.

Arthur

I've sent you a private message. I have quite a detailed write-up on the No 80 fuze for the 18-Pdr shrapnel round but it's too long to post here.
