chaz Posted 11 June , 2020 Share Posted 11 June , 2020 along with my theme of medals and epherma to the Wheeler family , Ive just recieved a certificate for the Veterans of King Albert 1st, medal of fidelity. its named to L/Bombardier Wheeler Albert. there is a number 86458 in the same ink as his name. the medal was awarded in June 1976 for service in WW1. anyone have experience of the medal or document as cant find an Albert that ties in with the number 86458 which I assume is the issue number.? who would be eligable for the medal? is it on a par with the last issues of the French Croix de Guerre for veterans ? would it only have been for soldiers that actually served in Belgium? I cant find a Lance Bombardier , there are two possible Bombardiers Albert W/4079-227856 Bombardier and Albert E 46245 Acting Bombardier, is the Lance the same as an acting? thanks

pjw800 Posted 19 June , 2020 Share Posted 19 June , 2020 I believe a Lance Bombardier Is equivalent to Lance Corporal, between Private and corporal, I'm sure others will correct me if i'm wrong. In which case, no, not acting Paul
