Remembered Today:

Help sought for interpretation of AIR76 entry

Would someone please be able to assist with the meaning of the second (partly illegible) entry on this AIR76 record. 'M.G.' is probably Machine Gun, as the officer had been on a Vickers and Lewis Gun course and was graded as an Equipment Officer 3rd Class on 16 Jul 17 before being posted to 57 Squadron in France.

TIA,

Errol

Thanks Steve,

That looks to be a good interpretation, but I wonder if it might have been at Grantham or Perivale rather than Hythe? In a post-war summary of his service he mentions attending machine gun training at both places in June 1917. He makes no mention at all of Hythe.

Cheers,

Errol
