hamiltonhunt Posted 2 June , 2020 Share Posted 2 June , 2020 (edited) Would appreciate help understanding the attached record. I've cropped the portions that require deciphering. Would also appreciate any suggestions re additional records available. Douglas Wilson McIntyre Service No. 168833 H.M Force: RAF Birth: 9-12-88, Penang, Straits Settlements Current Engagement Commenced: 18-05-18; Age 26 11/12; D(uration) of W(ar) Actual Entry: 18-5-18 Civilian Occupation: Electrical Engineer Marriage: 30-8-18, Bristol; Mrs N? McIntyre Additional Request: Graduated as Electrical Engineer, 1913, according to UK, Electrical Engineers Lists. Appears in Bristol from at least 1914 until his death in 1958 (Westbury-on Trym). I'd appreciate any suggestions where he could have gotten his training to obtain additional info and confirm his father's name/origin to confirm relationship. I'm pretty sure but not certain. With the lack of documents from Penang, school records have been very helpful with other family. Thank you for your help! McIntyre, born Calcutta, India, who was recorded as a boarder at 50 Zetland Road, Bristol. He was working as an Electrical Engineer for the Bristol Corporation, employed at a Sub-station. So if it is the same man then sounds like his experience was with power networks and he may even possibly have done an apprenticeship with the council. Hope that helps, Peter

quemerford Posted 13 August , 2020 Share Posted 13 August , 2020 Recruits Depot (Blandford or Sth Farnboro) to STHC (not sure what this is) 26May18 but looks like an attachment from RD Then Recruits Depot to BEF Independent Force 11Sep18 BEF Independent Force to 6 Aircraft Park 20Sep18 6 Aircraft Park to 57 Sqn (in error) 14Feb19, so probably stayed at 6 AP until return to UK on 01Apr19. He was given medical category 'A' on 06May19, presumably upon discharge.
