Hello,

I am fully aware of the vital role played by the Pigeon as a communications asset during WW1. I am also aware that the Dickin medal was awarded to 32 birds in the second world war.

However, I would be really keen to know how many birds were honoured in WW1. I am aware of birds receiving the French Croix de Guerre, but is it known as to how many, and indeed, any other award or nation doing something similar?

Many thanks,

Owain.
