Hi,

The above soldier's name is incorrectly recorded by the CWGC. How do you go about getting it changed?

Thanks,

Gerard

I think it should be a doddle as the GRR reads M and his MIC has Michael [not Martin]. Use the 'contact us' on CWGC and scroll down a little for form

Hi,

Sorry, should have said 'may' need, not will.

Just send what you have and see what they say.

I have over the years changed over a hundred errors and they are by and large receptive to the changes.

Regards,

Graeme

@GJW

You won't need any docs if you fill in the form on their website citing the initial M on their GRR doc. Where did you think this man was named Martin?

Hi B,

His effects register reflects Martin. His PRC is also in the name of Martin. We have his fathers name on Effects Register and Mother's name on PRC. We have him on Census and we have his Birth Cert based on parents names and location. Also FMP and Irish Memorial Records recognise him as Martin.

Cheers

So only Medal Roll/MIC has Michael. I think the best you can hope for is a change of initial. Excellent though!
