To this day I find it difficult to sing, I still get this mental picture of my Nan crying whenever she heard it sung. That’s my granddad in the avatar, joined up in 1914, and with the exception of about 18 months served through till kia 1941.

I haven't sung it for half a century, but it just popped into my head. I have the mental picture of the two halves of HMS Invincible pointing skywards which makes me shudder.
