Hello from Belgium,

I've got this 1917 SBR-bag with a name which i think is: 2Lt A.R.(?) KNUDSON, 1st (?) MIDDLESEX. Is that correct? I would like to find out some more about this officer.

Can someone read the manufacturer of the bag?

Thanks,

Kurt

Welcome to the forum

Quite probably Lieutenant Alfred Robert Knudson of The Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment). His service file can be viewed at Kew once the lockdown is over. If you can't get there yourself you should be able to hire an independent researcher to copy it for you at a reasonable cost (don't get the archives to do it - that will be expensive).

Here is the link https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C1150885

From his Medal Index Card he started in the ranks and survived the war as he claimed his medals.

Hi Kurt

The bag was manufactured by Waring & Gillow Ltd, the famous English furniture makers.
