Medical help please

A clip from a Pension Ledger Card is attached.

I can only interpret this as an amputation at the shoulder, but someone with medical knowledge may be able to suggest another less severe disablement?

This man's silver war badge record only quotes 'no longer physically fit for war service'. There are no service papers for him.

That's what it says.

It's not clear where exactly the amputation was performed.

It might have been through the joint  removing the humerus completely, it could have been just beyond the joint, preserving part of the upper end of the humerus.

A pretty disabling procedure in either event.
