2li Posted 28 May , 2020 Share Posted 28 May , 2020 Hello can any one help with information or war diary for the events leading up to the death of Charles Hill 2344 3Rd Div. Ammunition Col. R.F.A. Dow France 24 June 1915 I am interested in anything leadinging up to the evant which led to his death, was his unit in action prior to his wounds if so what actions where going on on this date, it seems he died of wounds so may have been in action some days before, or died on the 24 after action and anything about his unit would be good to know. anything to help will be very much appriciated Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It might be worth reading it in conjunction with the diaries of the Commander Royal Artillery, 3 Division; and 3 Division Headquarters (General Staff). His Soldiers' Effects record says that he died (whilst serving with 3/DAC) at 8 Casualty Clearing Station. It looks like British War Graves could send you a digital image of his headstone (FoC). I see that in the CWGC records they originally had him as 11/DAC Image sourced from the CWGC I wonder if it might be worth contacting them to see if they know why that was subsequently changed to 3/DAC for their other 'headline' records?
