Thatww1pigeon Posted 26 May , 2020 Share Posted 26 May , 2020 (edited) Hi everyone. Today I’ve got something in my collection I’ve had for a while, but can’t seem to identify. It looks to be an ammo pouch of some sort, maybe grenade pouch? It’s very weird, it has holes on in the top of the pouch, which I also found on the bottom of it. It is not dated, and is very beaten up. It is of the same material of the US ammo pouches from the era, and I was hoping someone could identify this for me. For all I know it might not be military at all, thanks. Edited 26 May , 2020 by Thatww1pigeon
wainfleet Posted 27 May , 2020 Share Posted 27 May , 2020 British and US grenade carriers were quite different to this and I don't recognise that type of catch from any military equipment. It's a civilian bag IMO. It looks like some sort of camping companion, first aid bag, fishing bag etc.

These type of closures are found, at least, on the Coat, Kapok (Tropal) used in WW2 in Norway, Russia and the LRDG. Like you, don't recognise the bag though. Cheers, GT. Thatww1pigeon Posted 27 May , 2020 Author Share Posted 27 May , 2020 (edited) Very interesting. At least I can maybe trace it to one of those countries. Then again, I have a feeling it might just be a fishing bag...hopefully someone can prove me wrong. Edited 27 May , 2020 by Thatww1pigeon
