Corporal John Paterson 45476 Royal Army Medical Corps

Born: 21 February 1889 (1939 Census & death entry) Watford

 

Entered France 25-09-1915.

 

1st MM in LG 29893, 6th January 1917, p.347. 

(The 16th Field Ambulance War Diary of 22 November 1916 lists MM awards to 14774 Pte D. Armour and 1689 Corp/A. Sgt. Shields of 16th FA.

Both men appear in the same LG as John Paterson's). 16 FM attached to 67th Siege Battery RGA around Bethune.

2nd MM (Bar) in LG 31405, 17th June 1919, p.7643 16th Field Ambulance (Watford). Schedule no. 241242.

Award mentioned in 16th Field Ambulance War Diary on 30th November 1918 (Bohain- Walcourt).

 

Entitled to 1914-15 Star, BWM and VM. Last 2 medals claimed 1964!

Married: Daisy Carpenter, Q1 1919

He attended Spurgeon's College, London after WW1 and became a Baptist Pastor/Minister in Cross Street, Islington (1920-28), Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead (1929-37), Salisbury Road, Plymouth (1938-52), and Stratford Upon Avon (1952-58).

 

1939: 31 Coleridge Road, Plymouth with his wife Daisy.

Died: Stratford Upon Avon Q1 1974 aged 84
