alf mcm Posted 24 May , 2020 Share Posted 24 May , 2020 Taransay, Welcome to the forum. I don't recognise the uniform but if you can give your great aunt's name then that may help. Regards, Alf McM
Guest Posted 24 May , 2020 Share Posted 24 May , 2020 Thank you. her name was Bessie Drabble....born 1897 in Wrexham..known then as Bessie Lawson .
Sepoy Posted 24 May , 2020 Share Posted 24 May , 2020 They appear to be wearing Royal Army Service Corps cap badges (except the one behind your Aunt who is wearing a Royal Engineers cap badge). They were probably Clerks (or in a similar support role) whilst serving with Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps. Technically, they should not be wearing the RASC badges, but I am aware that some of the Female Workers unofficially wore the insignia of the units they were attached to. alf mcm Posted 24 May , 2020 Share Posted 24 May , 2020 Taransay, Only a fraction of Queen Mary's Army Auxilliary Corps service records have survived, and are held at The National Archives. Unfortunately Bessie's records have not survived. There is no medal card for her, so she did not serve abroad. Regards. Alf McM
