My Great Grandmothers first husband was in this regiment . He was killed on the 25th July 1916. He is remembered at the Thiepval memorial. He was 30 years old and had a young son. I don't think his body was ever found which was so sad. She married my Grandfather in 1919 had 3 daughters. My Grandfather was also fighting the war. He was sent home through ill health he died in 1923 .leaving my Great grandmother a widow again with 4 young children. She never remarried. She was a very strong woman. I never knew till I got older what she had been through. I was interested in her first husband when doing my family tree. But don't know anything about him where he was born . I have looked to see if he had got papers where he enlisted did they get destroyed when the soldier was killed in Action..?

Welcome to the forum. I've split your post into a new topic to hopefully gain more attention. If you let us have his name and any more information, it would help. Approximately 70% of Soldiers service papers were destroyed during WW2 owing to a fire in the warehouse where they were stored.
