Fortress artillery 1914

My understanding is that both german and french had a lot of fortress artillery in 1914 , which are taken out in the initial stages of the war to be used on the front in late 1914 early 1915

 

does anyone have any details on 

1-types of guns used

2- numbers of guns involved

3-types of field carriages involved 

4-how they were transported to the front 

just interested in the time period from august 1914-march 1915
