I’m researching a man from the RFA and wondering if anyone can decipher the extract from his service record......I’ve tried googling the phrases to no avail ie...promoted fitter vice 104 perks. And  vice Foster.............. Thanks

Possibly referring to end army number and name Perks?  See below similar with the name Foster but I am sure someone with greater knowledge will be along soon!

as noted before these are indeed recording his promotion, replacing a previous postholder.. on occasions the name is also provided with a number,, so Perks can  be identified as

Harry Perks 104/later 845079, on his promotion in this case.. most likely as later Sgt Perks

Foster I suspect would be  George Foster, 102 one time WheelerCpl , later Staff Sgt Foster 845078

That’s fantastic all , really appreciate your help, far more personal information than I would have imagined to be on a record , thanks again and best regards , Colin
