Foxkarej Posted 18 May , 2020 Share Posted 18 May , 2020 I've just discovered my great Uncles Pension Records and he was with the Lincolnshre Regiment in Ireland between April and August 1916. Would this period feature in the 2/5ths War Diaries or as a separate record please.
Admin kenf48 Posted 18 May , 2020 Admin Share Posted 18 May , 2020 A unit was only required to keep a diary in a theatre of war. Service in Ireland in 1916 was service 'at home' therefore there was no requirement to maintain a war diary. Although violent, and bloody, the Easter Rebellion was a 'policing' operation. There are detailed accounts online and the regimental museum may hold personal diaries etc.

corisande Posted 18 May , 2020 Share Posted 18 May , 2020 There are some threads on the Forum. Have a look at As far as I can see the 2/5 were in Ireland but not involved in Dublin during the Easter Rising. The 2/4 are briefly mention in the Easter Rebellion Handbook as being on the outskirts of Dublin, but neither regiment had any casualties during the Rising
