Remembered Today:

Capt J A L Magee RAMC

Hi All,

I'm researching John Austin Leo Magee (born 1891 in Castle Eden, Durham) and have found out that he was a Captain in the RAMC attached to the Durham Light Infantry.

I know from his medal index card that he went to Salonika with the DLI arriving on the 10th of September 1916. From reading up on the LLT I'm guessing that means he was attached to either the 2/5th battalion or the 2/9th battalion, both of whom arrived out there just after that date.

I want to get the battalion diaries to see if I can spot him in either, I have access to Ancestry but was thinking I could download the complete diaries from Kew while they are free but can't find them.

Can anyone help find them please?

Thanks a lot,

Michael
