Thatww1pigeon Posted 17 May , 2020 Share Posted 17 May , 2020 Hi there. I have been doing research on this pistol magazine. I suspect it is from the First World War? Very stumped with this, any info helps, thanks.
MikB Posted 17 May , 2020 Share Posted 17 May , 2020 (edited) I doubt this will be easy. For a start, it would make sense to try to determine calibre. In very rough descending order of probability for WW1, these might be:- .32 ACP/7,65 Browning 9mm Parabellum (9x19) .45 ACP (but yours doesn't look thick enough) .380 ACP/9mm Browning Short Various other 9s like 9mm Browning Long or Steyr/Bergmann, .38 ACP You can get the cartridge overall dimensions from Wikipedia. Having decided that, you can then compress the spring with a ruler and work out how many of the selected round would go in. My *guess* is that it possibly comes from a Spanish or Belgian .32 - probably not a major maker or there'd be more identification marks - of which there were a lot around by the end of WW1. But that could be quite wrong. Edited 17 May , 2020 by MikB
Thatww1pigeon Posted 17 May , 2020 Author Share Posted 17 May , 2020 Thanks for the info, I will look into it more based on what you have told told me. I had guessed it wasn’t any major company, as it was very odd to find no markings

MikB Posted 18 May , 2020 Share Posted 18 May , 2020 Looks like Joolz has probably got it. The thought of Star did cross my mind, but I'd've expected them to apply some markings and they didn't exist as a brand until 1919.
