Hi there. I have been doing research on this pistol magazine. I suspect it is from the First World War? Very stumped with this, any info helps, thanks.

I doubt this will be easy.

For a start, it would make sense to try to determine calibre. In very rough descending order of probability for WW1, these might be:-

.32 ACP/7,65 Browning

9mm Parabellum (9x19)

.45 ACP (but yours doesn't look thick enough)

.380 ACP/9mm Browning Short

Various other 9s like 9mm Browning Long or Steyr/Bergmann, .38 ACP

You can get the cartridge overall dimensions from Wikipedia.

Having decided that, you can then compress the spring with a ruler and work out how many of the selected round would go in.

My *guess* is that it possibly comes from a Spanish or Belgian .32 - probably not a major maker or there'd be more identification marks - of which there were a lot around by the end of WW1. But that could be quite wrong.

Thanks for the info, I will look into it more based on what you have told told me. I had guessed it wasn’t any major company, as it was very odd to find no markings

Looks like Joolz has probably got it. The thought of Star did cross my mind, but I'd've expected them to apply some markings and they didn't exist as a brand until 1919.
