Royal Marine Reservist Brigade

Please does anyone know what these letters mean on a Royal Marine Reservist Brigade commemoration?

R.M.A./10436 (R.M.R.B) (Po)

I am researching Gunner William Smeeth who was in the RMA from 1902/1910 then left and became a House Painter only to reenlist on 03/08/1914 and assigned HMS Hogue, only to die on 22/09/1914  in the total shambles of the U9 attack in the North Sea and the wording on the Royal Navy and Royal Marine War Graves Roll gives the Po suffix

thanks

Hilary

The RMA register number under which he served was RMA/10436 (although he began his service in Portsmouth Division RMLI as PO/12369 for less than a year). After his Discharge by Purchase (£12) in 1911 he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve '(RFR - ) Class 'B'. His full register number after mobilisation im 1914 was the merging of his RMA and RFR numbers. Thus :-  RMA/10435 (RFR/RMR/B/1095)

N.B. for RMA and RMLI men the RFR is sometimes referred to as the Royal Marines Reserve (RMR). RMR and RFR essentially refer to the same reserve.

Sometimes the Port Division was also listed - Po = Portsmouth.
