Remembered Today:

Anyone have National Roll Birmingham?

Does any member possess a copy of the National Roll of the Great War, Section VI, for Birmingham? There is a soldier I would like to look up. His name was Lawrence Roland Hughes. He was in the RAOC. He was from Small Heath. That's all I know.

Thanks Terry.

Second question then. Does anyone know if and when a large draft of men moved from the AOC into the 2nd Sherwood Foresters? I believe Lawrence was in such a draft. He was given a new number: 103943.

Chris,

I have a copy of the 2nd Bn Sherwood Foresters War History ( by Col. H.C.Wylie) not yet read but in September 1916 they received a Draft of 12 Officers and 529 other ranks.

The only sure way to do this is to go to the unit medal rolls. If he qualified for medals then a large draft of men will appear in the same roll which will show their former units as well.
