Marigold1 Posted 12 May , 2020 Share Posted 12 May , 2020 I have been trying without any success to find a listing in The Gazette for the Silver Cross of St. George 4th Class (Russia) awarded to Corporal 9612 Ernest Neale (or Neal). He was with the 1st Battalion of the Leicesters and went to France on 9th September 1914. In around 1916 he was transferred to the 16th Brigade of the Machine Gun Corps as Corporal 20845. He then became a Sergeant and then a Company Sergeant Major. Can anyone solve this one? Marigold
Keith_history_buff Posted 12 May , 2020 Share Posted 12 May , 2020 I wonder if he is listed in the following file:https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/browse/r/r/C14727886WO 388/7/28 1915 Aug 25 - 1921 July 16 Foreign to British: Russia. If you register with The National Archives, you can download the file for free. I think it will list his name, but do not imagine there will be a medal citation. Keith_history_buff Posted 20 September , 2020 Share Posted 20 September , 2020 If you do a search on "reciprocal" on the forum, a number of threads mention this arrangement. Below is one such example:
