Remembered Today:

Canadian made Sam Browne belt

I have this ww1 Sam Browne belt here, but I am not too sure of whether it is British or Canadian. There is a makers mark saying it was made in Canada but no date found. I was told it was British, so that puzzled me. Just wondering if anyone might know a thing or two.

Canadian Officer's equipment was exactly the same pattern as that used by British officers.  I can appreciate your confusion.

It is, technically, not incorrect to refer the belt as "British" (in terms of its style or pattern) but it is certainly misleading. Your belt was (likely) not used by a British Officer.

Out of curiosity - who is the maker? (Wm. Scully of Montreal?)

That’s good to know. I have looked over the belt a total of three times and I still cannot find a makers mark, very unusual. Then again, it was also hard to spot the “made in Canada” on the belt. Therefore I man unsure of it
