Any information please on Lt. Cyril Ferdinand Briggs' pre. 1920 service would be much appreciated.  E.g. His service with 37 and 61 Squadrons.

Many thanks for you post.  After passing his Aviators Certificate understand that he was seconded to the RFC/RAF serving with 37 and 61 Squadrons.  He took part in an HD operation with 61 Squadron on 19/20 May 1918 (Cole and Cheesman).  His RAF Service Record at TNA unfortunately shows nothing before 1920, so are struggling to find details of his Great War RFC/RAF service.

The potted history I have is:

Cyril Ferdinand Briggs, born 28 April 1896

4th Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment

As a 2nd Lieut, gained RAeC number 4151, test taken in a Maurice Farman, 20 January 1917

With No 23 Sqn from 16 June 1917 until at least November 1917

Victory on 14 August 1917 – a two-seater destroyed east of St Julien at 19:15/20:15, shared with 2nd-Lieut Standish Conn O'Grady, 2nd-Lieut George Ivan Douglas Marks and Lieut Thomas Arthur Doran

Ireland 17 November 1920

Unfortunately, nothing about his Home Defence activities.

Thank you Graeme.  His 23 Sqn service is very good to know about.  Will help to narrow down his period on HD.
