The National Archive is free at present so it would be worth a search to see if they have the war diary for the 7th North Staffs. This will tell you what they got up to. Where did you get your information from and do you know any more? The more you can post the better your chances of a result.

Henry Cooke was my late husbands Grandfather, he was a coal miner working in a pit at Kidsgrove at the time of his enlistment. He had three children and was living at 23 High Street Goldenhill.  A forth child was born the following January (my husbands father) after his death on the 8th August.
There was no record with the war graves commission until we notified them, subsequently his name was added to the Helles monument.

We have no place name, or location where he actually was and no record of his body being found.

I will now try to find the diary’s of his regiment.
I am so grateful to you for helping me

Unfortunately Gallipoli diaries aren't available to download From the National Archives. Ancestry has it though - the Battalion diary starts here. The Brigade HQ diary starts here, and the Division HQ (General Staff) diary here.
