War Diary reference guide

Could anybody advice if there is a central registry of all the War Diaries, that can be used prior to downloading a full diary. I ask as I am researching Corp A& Q diaries, mainly to locate Routine orders relating to awards of MM, DCM. I have found that I have had to download many diaries before coming across the Awards Annex for the Specific Corp

Only Discovery (TNA). Use numbers rather than roman numerals for the Corps e g 11 Corps Adjutant and Quarter - Master General. Honours and Rewards in the ROs can appear as a separate appendix or in the body of the WD, if they are there at all. The Divisional A&QMG WDs are on Ancestry.

Are you after an index to the diaries to identify where the MM etc. appendices are rather than download reams of diaries?

If so I would say no, sounds a wonderful resource if it existed.

I add comments to the pdf downloads which makes life a little easier. An advanced Acrobat search can then look through all my diaries for the search term.

Must admit, I do exactly the same as TEW as in add comments to the downloads, it does make it easier.

However, this does not solve your problem when there are sometimes 3, 4 or 7 pdf files per month for A & Q, i.e. I Corps Feb 15 = 4 files, I Corps December 1916 = 7 files etc etc etc

Thats still a lot of files to download.
