o j kirby Posted 27 April , 2020 Share Posted 27 April , 2020 Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows roughly when soldiers started to carry or wear identity tags or bracelets of a non regulation type. Were these actively encouraged? I am guessing that they made an appearance once it was realised that the original single disc as issued was inadequate. Any ideas? Cheers Owain. mark holden Posted 27 April , 2020 Share Posted 27 April , 2020 Hi Owain, I have no specific data to prove a date when they became popular but I have bracelets in my collection from 1915. They also post date the introduction of the second disc in 1916. It seems to be very much a WW1 fashion as one sees far fewer dating to WW2.
