Remembered Today:

'Meterin'

Recommended Posts

This word has cropped up in a war diary in 1917 (15th Royal Irish, at that time based in Aldershot) I'm unable to find any references to it, although based on what I can find, Barracks at Aldershot were named. I'm thinking maybe this was one such name, although was hoping to verify with a plan cannot find anything.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Indeed it is.

Meteren with an English accent is 'Meterin' which may explain the spelling. However, no mention in diary of going to France (is that usual?)
