Thoyles Posted 25 April , 2020 Share Posted 25 April , 2020 Hi I received this bayonet last week and was wondering if anyone knows what the pommel markings could mean? Could HAA stand for heavy anti aircraft? Kind regards Tom
msdt Posted 25 April , 2020 Share Posted 25 April , 2020 Hi Tom, I think that is a reasonable supposition. Also the TAV? Territorial Army Volunteers? Can't actually see other references for HAA or TAV. I believe that this unit mark was applied post WW1, probably in the 1930's. Looks like the date on the bayonet is September 1917, and there is a re-issue stamp for 1919 on the reverse ricasso. Cheers, Tony
