mwelsh50 Posted 15 February , 2005 Share Posted 15 February , 2005 Can anyone tell me anymore about what happened to my Great Uncle who fought with the 13th Middlesex. He was killed attacking Guillemont on 8 Aug 1916. Apart from the War Diary, is there any other info on the 13th in this action?
AGWR Posted 15 February , 2005 Share Posted 15 February , 2005 Are you sure that he was serving in the 13th battalion when he was killed? I think that you might find that he was in the 17th battalion. What was his name? I 'll check my records. Regards, AGWR
CROONAERT Posted 16 February , 2005 Share Posted 16 February , 2005 As AGWR has said, it was the 17th Bn that was involved in the fighting at Guillemont on this date. The 13th was in Happy Valley and didn't attack Guillemont untill 18th August. However, the 17th Bn recieved reinforcements on the 15th August, many of which came from the 13th Bn. Dave.
