TaurusSteve Posted 22 April , 2020 Share Posted 22 April , 2020 (edited) Hi, I'm trying to find out more about what my Great Grandad did during WW1. I know he went from the RFC to the RAF. This is his form when he joined up, hopefully someone can tell me more. His name is W.C. Murphy. Sorry to put it in the wrong section, thanks for moving it! On a form i have from one of my relatives, it says" R.N.A.S or R.F.C Trade Classification : Rigger, then Remastered to Air Force Trade Classification: Rigger (Aero). What is/was the role of a Rigger? Then lastly, it says R.N.A.S Rating Or R.F.C Rank Or Appointment: A.Mech.2, then New Rank In Air Force: A.Mech.

David_Underdown Posted 23 April , 2020 Share Posted 23 April , 2020 I imagine experience and skill, and which tasks exactly there were carrying out. I think both were effectively pay grades equivalent to private, so I don't think either would have had an supervisory element.
