Black Maria Posted 21 April , 2020 Share Posted 21 April , 2020 (edited) This privately produced hardback contains extracts from the 1914-15 diary of Captain Wilfrid Barham of the 1st Buffs ( he was killed in October 1915) . It has been compiled by his great nephew Edward from his original diary ( published for private circulation in 1919 ) with the addition of photographs , maps and drawings , some of the photographs were actually taken by Wilfrid . It also contains some of Wilfrid's letters to his parents and a chapter on the memorials erected to his memory . Edward has also added context to some of the diary entries and gives information on Wilfrid's early life . Privately published in 2016 it's not a book i had heard of before , although the original diary has been mentioned on the forum , it's 223 pages in length and nicely produced . If anyone is interested in purchasing a copy ten copies (new condition) have just appeared on e-bay ( sold by the compiler ) , they are priced at £20 each (free postage ).
