Remembered Today:

'Dromore's Great War Heroes'  by Jeffrey Martin

Do anybody have access to this book :-  'Dromore's Great War Heroes'  by Jeffrey Martin .

I am researching for an Alexander McMullan(en). from Co. Down that married into my family.

The name Dromore was mentioned in my family history and the above book could supply information on an A. McMullan mentioned on the Dromore's war memorial.

I hope this is not against any rules.

Thanks for your information.

I am looking for information such as his address or parents name.

I have found him on the Irish Register of Ireland's War Dead, on CWGC and on ANCESTRY and a few more places but always no family information.

I can’t help with the book and you have not given the details of the man, but I am assuming the man you are interested in is - Alexander McMullan, #5138, 15th/R.Ir.Rifles KIA 21/03/18 - if so there is a pension record for him which names his family.

-Elizabeth McClelland - widow

-Mary McGulle - Guardian

Three children= Mary, Elizabeth & Alexander.

Many thanks for this information.

I did not post any information because many people for many years have been searching for this elusive relation but we did not know what was published in this book.

That this Alexander was married to an non-relation means it is not the Alexander I am looking.

It is a pity to view original war widow pension record that I would have to join "FOLD" .

Again my thanks as I had not thought of using this source to find any soldier's family.

Still hoping somebody has access to this book.

  • 1 month later...

Finally got a copy of the text from the book and it is most interesting reading about Alexander McMullan and his military service.

It gives a location for his birth in the Dromore area so I will apply normal genealogy aids to prove one way or another if he is the family member.

I wish to thanks all that viewed and replied to this posting.
