Remembered Today:

Plymouth Hospital Book 1914+

Hi Folks,

When my 3rd Great Uncle George Henry Chipperfield was in Plymouth Hospital in 1914 he brought an empty album and passed it around the ward for soldiers to sign.

He left it at home and was killed in action in 1916.

The book is in my possession.

It maybe of some historical significance as there are many entries and poems written by soldiers and their details in including George thanking the nurses that took care of them.

Id love to get scans of these pages out but in order to reach the maximum number of people ill need help from someone with influence.

I fear if I just post them here in a Topic created by me nobody will see these wonderful pages.

Barry.

How very interesting. Which particular hospital, may I ask?

4th perhaps?

Any nurses named? A fair few of the nurses at Seale Hayne originated from 4th SGH, Plymouth including the Matron.

If you posted images here I'm sure lots of members will see them.

Plymouth and West Devon records or Devon Heritage Centre would willingly accept it and it would be available for all.

Or are you more inclined to publish with the help of someone influential?
