ChrisL Posted 7 April , 2020 Share Posted 7 April , 2020 Hello all, I picked up a WW1 US Helmet a while back and I noticed there is a serial number on the inside lip of the helmet. It reads: “ZJ252.” I was wondering if anyone knows what this means about the helmet. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
Tom K Posted 8 April , 2020 Share Posted 8 April , 2020 The letters ZJ identify the maker (sorry don't know off hand what company that would be). The numbers identify the lot of heat treated steel used to make the shell.

Also, do you know if this lot of helmets would have gone to one certain division, or would they have been given out at random?
HERITAGE PLUS Posted 8 April , 2020 Share Posted 8 April , 2020 (edited) This link suggests that ZJ markings were thought to be for the Columbian Enamelling & Stamping Co. https://www.treasurebunker.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3412-us-ww1-and-ww2-brodie-helmets-and-maker-stamps/#comments The company manufactured metal utensils in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana Dave Edited 8 April , 2020 by HERITAGE PLUS Added info
