Phill Jones Posted 4 April , 2020 Share Posted 4 April , 2020 I am trying to establish what was happening with the above battalion of the Cameron Highlanders during the period 24th Dec 14- to the end Jan 1915 , as they were part of the 1st Division i understand they had just been involved in fighting during the Defence of Givenchy and were not involved in any action ? until the 1st action of Givenchy 25th Jan 1915 , i am unable to find any War diary ? where they perhaps in billets or holding the line around Givenchy any advice/ information would be gratefully received TIA Phill Jones
sotonmate Posted 4 April , 2020 Share Posted 4 April , 2020 Maybe the War Diary covers more than one unit of a Brigade, though the Discovery catalogue at Kew gives the 1 QOCH as an individual War Diary contributor. There are two for your period: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C14052696 for the period Aug to Dec 1914, and, https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C14052697 for the period including Jan 1915. clk Posted 5 April , 2020 Share Posted 5 April , 2020 (edited) Hi Phil, On Ancestry the diary is mis-indexed. The direct link to December 1914 is here. The Brigade HQ diary is here. Regards Chris Edited 5 April , 2020 by clk
