57067 Pte EZRA STRAW Notts & Derbys

OLD ROBIN HOOD

Recommended Posts

Greetings from Locked down Sherwood Forest.

Firstly I hope that all of you out there are well and keeping safe in these trying times.

A request for help. I was sorting out my hovel and came across a War & Victory pair to 57067 Pte Ezra Straw Notts & Derby Regt.

I remember buying these years ago and could find no information on him whatever . So I wonder if any of you good folk can help.

If you could  I would be most grateful .

His MIC is on ancestry but adds nothing else, pair only.

Find a note and date on the back of the Pension Index/Ledger Card for Ezra quite intriguing

(Pension Index Card / Ledger ? Ref. / MIC on WFA Pension Records)

 ‘Case No. 1494 ... APN/12920 ... dated 28 Jan 1965’

Cases were still being looked at in to the 1980's, where needed.

Typically the date is when the case was closed, so often the death of the claimant.

Greetings from Sherwood ( again ).

  Hi Barbara & Craig.

I doubt that I will be able to get to the local library for some time  to use their computer as they are all closed due to the PLAGUE,

so I wont get to see just what the note says . I wonder if Esra's widow Nellie died in January 1965. She was born in 1887.

If I have the right record, Nellie (B. Abt. 1889) died 14/9/61 - probate 15/10/62.
