8th Northumberland Fusiliers - Egypt

Hi all,

This is my first post in the forum so please forgive If in the wrong section.

I have been researching a relative and am trying to bridge a gap in his career.

He enlisted in the 15th NF and then transferred to the 8th NF and went to join them in Gallipoli. He was only there a few weeks before moving out to Egypt.

Whilst in Egypt he transferred to the 34th Machine Gun Company, which I understand was made of the machine gun sections of the infantry units of the 34th Infantry Brigade. ( I assume he was in the machine gun section of the 8th NF prior to that) after Egypt they headed to France where he was KIA in November 1916.

I have a fair amount of information for most of his time in the military with the exception of the time in Egypt. There seems to be no war diaries to cover the period.

Has anyone any suggestions of other sources of information.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

James

Hi,

welcome to the forum.

I’m sure if you post a name @Graham Stewart - the forum NF expert will be able to assist.
