ph0ebus Posted 27 March , 2020 Share Posted 27 March , 2020 (edited) Hi all, Researching a distant relative who served in the Great War and was murdered in the Shoah in the Belzec extermination camp. You can find his his two VL entries here: http://des.genealogy.net/search/show/5086051 http://des.genealogy.net/search/show/5086051 In the group photo below he is the chap with the star above his head. Photo courtesy of Geni and the Leo Baeck Institute. He was per the VL attached to 3. Batterie, Feldartillerie Regiment Nr. 32. He was born 22 August 1890 in Xanten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Working on sorting out where he was when he was wounded the two times I can find mention of. I did also find a reference that he was awarded the Iron Cross but no details as to which one and when: https://www.gedaechtnisbuch.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/bruckmann_sally.pdf Daniel Edited 27 March , 2020 by ph0ebus

fritz Posted 29 March , 2020 Share Posted 29 March , 2020 My wife and I live in the countryside in self-chosen isolation. Relatively safe. NY is a corona focus in US I think. Take care of yourself and your people! Best wishes!

Marilyne Posted 31 March , 2020 Share Posted 31 March , 2020 serving your country in the First War and then being branded the enemy in the Second… that's horrible. Let us know what you find out in the histories ! Take care over there in the Big Apple! M.
