I am trying to research Catherine Cecilia Murray, U.S. Navy Yeoman, 3rd Naval District. I think that the 3rd Naval District would be New York. The only other information that I have is that she likely died in January 1919. So far this all that I have turned up. Can anyone add to the picture - particularly family information?

Good try, Tom, but she is not the one. Yours is a WW2 who was born in January 1919. Mine died in 1919. There is a chance that yours was named after mine so I will look into that possibility.

No worries, museumtom. Carmania, that must be her. Bit more needed to find her family background but this is a starter for ten.

Well, thats thrown a cat amongst my particular pigeons. I had her as this family ;-  Catherine Cecelia Murray (b. 1889 in New York, d. 17th January 1919) was the daughter of Andrew Murray (b. 1868 in Talon, Co. Waterford, Ireland). The 1910 US census finds Catherine living with her married sister's family at Amsterdam Avenue, Manhattan, New York, New York State. James Francis Egan (b. 5th October 1879 in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, drafted WW1 and WW2) is married to Sarah Egan (nee Murray, b. 1882 in New York, m. James Francis Egan on the 16th July 1905 in New York, seven children, d. 14th September 1957 in New York) and their two children, John H. Egan (b. 16th October 1906 in New York, d. 16th June 1916 in New York) and Catherine M. Egan (b. 9th July 1908 in New York, d. 25th August 1996 in Warwick, Orange County, New York). So back to construction a new family tree.  Thank you, Jim.

My latest attempt of a mini-biography.

Remarks: We have been unable to find the family in the 1892 US census. The 1900 US census finds the family living at 106 School Street, Yonkers, Westchester, New York. Ellen Murray (b. September 1863  in New York, a widow) is the head. She had seven children of which six had survived. With her are the six children (all at school) being Harry Murray (b. May 1884 in New York), Felix Murray (b. January 1886 in New York), Annie Murray (b. February 1889 in New York, a twin to Catherine), Chatherene (stet) Murray (b. February 1889 in New York, a twin to Annie), Jame (stet) E. Murray (this is Emmet in the 1910 US census, b. March 1892) and Ellen Murray (b. October 1895 in New York). Ellen's nephew, James Murray (b. May 1879) is also there. The 1905 New York State cencus finds the family living in Yonkers, New York. Ellen Murray is the head and she is there with her children, Harry Murray, Felix Murray, Catherine Murray, Anna Murray, James Murray, Emmet Murray and Nellie Murray. Also there are Ellen's mother, Catherine Hessler and a boarder. Catherine's father, Felix Murray, died at 106 School Street, on the 3rd October 1899, of heart failure. He was in the grocery business. The 1910 US census finds the family living at 106 School Street, Yonkers, Westchester, New York. Ellen Murray (b. 1863 in New York) is the head. Six children are with her being Harry Murray (b. 1884 in New York, a shipping clerk in a cable works), Felix Murray (b. 1886 in New York, a plumber), Catherine Murray (b. 1889 in New York, no occupation), Anna Murray (b. 1889 in New York, a book-keeper in a butcher's shop), Emmet Murray (b. 1892 in New York, no occupation) and Nellie Murray (this is Ellen Murray in the previous US census, b. 1895 in New York). Also there are Catherine Hessler (Ellen's mother, b. 1840 in Ireland, naturalised 1859, a widow) and James Murray (a nephew, b. 1880 in New York, a shipping clerk in wholesale groceries). There was one boarder. The New York Land Record for the 3rd July 1917 shows Ellen Murray living with Feliz J. Murray, Catherine C. Murray, Anna V. Murray, James E. Murray, Ellen M. Murray, Harry J. Murray and Alice Murray. Catherine enlisted at the Recruiting Station, New York, New York State on the 19th October 1918. Her age was 29 years and 8 months. She gave her home address as 11 Pier Street, Yonkers, New York. She was employed as a landsman yeoman "F" and her service seems to be 23 days from the 21st October 1918 to 11th November 1918. She died at the Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York on the 17th January 1919. The Yonkers Statesman newspaper for the 17th January 1919 records :- "CATHERINE C. MURRAY. Catherine C.
