Field Post Office 32, Location ?

I recently acquired a letter sent on  24 March 1917 by a member of the 'British Expeditionary Force' in France (?) to Guernsey under port clearance.
This letter was stamped  with a field post stamp (FIELD POST OFFICE - 32/ littera  A MR 24  17)
and censored
by an officer and bearing a violet censorship stamp (PASSED FIELD CENSOR/ 1556/ crown).

Can any one help me with the location of the Field Post Office 32 and if possible the censor 1556?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. Suggest you Google" The Postal Museum, London."  They have a copy of the  British Army Postal Service by E.B.Proud which lists  APO's and FPO's and their locations.

FPO 32 served 32 Brigade, 11th (Northern)  Division.  They served variously in Greece (Mudros and Lemnos).  Turkey - the Dardanelles (Imbros and Suvla). Egypt (El Ferdan Area). Thereafter they served on the Western Front from July 1916 - 1918.  Whilst with the BEF they served in the Somme area 27.7.1916 - Sept 16.  Ypres Area August - Oct 1917. Arras 10.8.18 - Sept 1918. Wallers (France) 28.11.18 - 16.3.19.

The letter was franked on March 24 1917.
