lacipaci Posted 19 March , 2020 Share Posted 19 March , 2020 Dear Everybody, I get these stuff today, what do you think? Trench clubs semms to be austrian-hungarian, unissued? All stamped wit "BF" One of the loopholes with shot. Thanks for any help.
wainfleet Posted 21 March , 2020 Share Posted 21 March , 2020 That's an amazing find. I wonder where they have been for the last hundred years. I haven't seen those spring-loaded clubs with that type of head, but I have seen similar German ones with cubic heads and "morning star" heads. So I think these are also German clubs. lacipaci Posted 22 March , 2020 Author Share Posted 22 March , 2020 These were similars: https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-austro-hungarian-wwi-spring-handle-trench-raiding-club?variant=18700929237061 http://universewarone.com/ww1_german_trench_club_grabenkeule_spiked_helmet_pickelhaube_casque_mace_flail.php so I don’t know the exact nationality. perhaps these were also in a box for years, handles are fresh waxed. JMB1943 Posted 22 March , 2020 Share Posted 22 March , 2020 Lacipaci, Welcome to the Forum. Very interesting items! I would be interested to know an accurate thickness and weight of the steel-plate shields. Do you have any thoughts about the nationality of these steel plates? Regards, JMB
lacipaci Posted 22 March , 2020 Author Share Posted 22 March , 2020 Thank you! I think they are german. If I have time I measure it, but it’s busy time now for a doctor 😷
NorthStaffsPOW Posted 22 March , 2020 Share Posted 22 March , 2020 I think it is the standard German Infantry shield. Quite interesting with the fractures from impact.
