Remembered Today:

inappropriate conduct, severely reprimanded officer

I have been doing some research into King Edwards Horse, (A. squadron) for information on two particular men (of which I can find very little). I came across a Captain who was arrested for inappropriate conduct. An application for G.M.C was made.  G.O.C 1st army directed the G.O.C 12th division to deal with the matter. On the 19th November 1915 the officer was severely reprimanded. Sadly the officer concerned died of wounds a few weeks later 19/01/16.

My question is what could be construed as  "inappropriate conduct" ?

Thanks in advance

One of its uses was as a euphemism for homosexual activity.  There is mention of this in biographies concerning Vera Brittain in respect of her brother, who was KIA (apparently possibly through a suicidal behaviour), before the charge could be brought to trial.

Thank you Frogsmile and JP, It definitely looks like insubordinate conduct and not  inappropriate conduct. A mistake on King Edwards Horse Webpage. I will need to access the war diary of A .Sqdn to see if there is anything on William Hannay Fothergill.

Thanks again

Thanks JP. I only come  across Capt Shaw while looking for my grandfathers brother William Fothergill, pte/trooper  951 A. sqdn KEH.  He caught my interest. Appreciate your help.
