leo burke Posted 26 February , 2020 Share Posted 26 February , 2020 hello my grandfather a member of the royal newfoundland naval reserve was injured in the great Halifax Canada explosion of 1917. he was serving on the hmcs Niobe at the time. during my research I found that he arrived at ellis island in june of 1918 onboard the ss italia from gibralta along with a number of other military members. the manifest states the passage was paid for by the british government. my question is where can I go to find his medical records if they still exist at all. thanks for your time. leo
seaJane Posted 27 February , 2020 Share Posted 27 February , 2020 You can find out more details about what happened to NiOBE in the "Royal Canadian Navy" section here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Niobe_(1897). Always a help to willing researchers if you can supply the name of the person you are trying to research!
