Hi

On 1st July 2018 the Friends of Darwen Cemetery (FODC www.darwencemetery.org.uk) unveiled a war memorial that contains the names of the 69 men and 1 women recognised by the CWGC who are buried in Darwen’s Western Cemetery. The memorial also tells the part the town played in the Great War. The Friends’ group also produced a book “Darwen Remembers” (59 pages) that given the biographies of these 70 and a further nine not yet recognised by the CWGC (one of these has just been accepted by the CWGC; another is still being invested).

Copies of this book (£5 plus p&p) can be obtained from www.lfhhs.org/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=1620

All the profits from the sale of the book will be used by the FODC in their work to improve the cemetery.

Regards

Tony
