JohnC Posted 21 February , 2020 Share Posted 21 February , 2020 Can anyone help me with the activities of 47th Brigade RFA during the period 25-28th January 1918 please? I have a French trench map of the area south of St Quentin, dated 6th November 1917. It has pencil notations relating to the 47th, at Bois de la Pintade and Benay, south of Urvillers, from Jan '18. I know that 47th was attached to 14th (Light) Division which was in this area in early 1918. If anyone has more detail I would much appreciate it. I bought the map from a French dealer, as far as I know it has always been in France, and the notations look contemporary rather than modern. I wonder if the notes refer to unit handovers when the British took over that part of the line? Thanks, John

JohnC Posted 21 February , 2020 Author Share Posted 21 February , 2020 Thanks Jon. The War Diary confirms that 47th moved into the area at the end of January and completed their handover from the French artillery on 30th. All ties up nicely.
