WhiteStarLine Posted 21 February , 2020 Share Posted 21 February , 2020 Hi Mike, do you want to know how to do a conversion? If so, clear the existing reference (x), type in your own reference such as 28.D.13.b.3.8 and click MapMe. Or click GuideMe and select each part of the map reference step-by-step. Or look at the Help section or tutorial. Or would you prefer that the initial icon does not appear whenever you load tMapper? If the latter, sorry for a rambling answer but there is a way forward: When users first open tMapper, the map opens at a symbolic trench location which could be anywhere on the Western Front but the iconic Ypres Cloth Hall has been chosen. To demonstrate tMappers's conversion capabilities, the grid reference is converted into a latitude and longitude, Street View showing the inside of the Flanders Fields Museum is retrieved and a pin placed at the centre. A trench map overlay is selected and the two maps are synced about an identical centre. A pin is placed and the aim is to provide an exemplar of how it might be used. Users are expected to put in their own coordinates and navigate wherever they want. The first conversion will move to a different area and the Ypres pin will generally not be visible. One of the ideas being thrown around is to do away with the initial icon and replace it with a centre cross-sight that always stays on the centre. If this is what you want, it is planned for April.
